Overview:
This course is designed for individuals who use Apple Macintosh computers running Mac OS X 10.2 or above in a networked environment. You will learn about the Mac OS X system architecture, how to install and configure a new system, how to setup and manage users, and how to secure your system using permissions and FileVault. You will also learn how to easily integrate Macintosh systems into existing Windows networks. Also works towards the ACHDS (Apple Certified Helpdesk Specialist) qualification.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the Mac OS X system architecture.
  • Install and Upgrade Mac OS X.
  • Create and Configure User Accounts.
  • Configure Networking and Internet Access, including WiFi and Bluetooth.
  • Understand File Permissions, Ownership and Group Membership.
  • Install and Configure Printers.
  • Sharing Resources (Files and Printers) for Windows and other Mac users.
  • Managing Disks, Images and Archives, including burning CD/DVD media.
  • Installing and Removing Software.
  • Using the UNIX command-line.
  • Using Automator (Mac OS X 10.4 only).
  • Configuring E-Mail Accounts.
  • Using Spotlight (Mac OS X 10.4 only).
  • Troubleshooting.
